Posting guidelines

Kikoeru Map is a place to share the atmosphere of places across Japan through sound. Please follow these rules so everyone can listen with peace of mind.

What you can post

• Ambient sounds unique to a place: nature, city bustle, stations and vehicles, shops, waterside, festivals and events
• Recordings you made yourself (no reposting of others' recordings)
• Between 5 and 60 seconds (longer files are cut to the first 60 seconds)

Prohibited recordings

• Recordings with intelligible conversations or voices that can identify individuals (names, phone numbers, etc.). Unintelligible crowd murmur is fine.
• Recordings that reveal private places such as homes or the inside of workplaces. Use location blurring when recording near your home.
• Recordings mainly consisting of copyrighted works such as shop music, live performances, TV or radio broadcasts.
• Offensive, abusive or discriminatory content
• Spam, advertising, or repeated posting of the same sound
• Recordings made illegally (trespassing, wiretapping, etc.)

Automatic checks

• Mostly silent, too short, or unreadable files are rejected.
• Recordings that seem to contain a lot of human voice stay private until a moderator reviews them.
• Sounds identical to existing (or deleted) posts are rejected as duplicates.
• Heavy clipping triggers a warning (the post is still accepted).

License

Choose CC BY 4.0, CC BY-NC 4.0, or "no reuse" when posting.

Reports

Use the "Report" button for posts that violate these guidelines. Posts with enough reports are hidden automatically until a moderator reviews them.
