How to use

Listen

Tap a pin to play its sound in the bottom panel. Click or drag the waveform to seek. Numbered circles are clusters; tap to zoom in. Pins with a small mark have several sounds at the same place that you can compare.

Keyboard

• Space: play / pause
• ← →: seek 5 seconds
• N: next sound (walk mode / courses)
• Esc: close the panel

Walk mode

Plays random sounds one after another while the map glides to each place. Filter by region, weather, time of day, season or genre. Immersive view and a sleep timer make it great as background ambience.

Soundscape (spatial audio)

The map center is where you stand. Up to eight nearby sounds play at once, panned by direction and attenuated by distance. Drag the map to walk around. Headphones recommended.

Mimiate (guess the place)

Listen and guess where the sound was recorded. The closer, the higher the score (up to 5000 per round, 5 rounds). The daily challenge has the same rounds for everyone and a ranking.

Record in the browser or choose a file, trim it, pick the place, add details and submit. Your deletion token is stored in this browser; use "My posts" in the menu to edit or delete.
